Computer jargon – a malignant tumor
Without language, communication between people would be impossible. Regardless of what first comes to mind when mentioning the word “language”, the first and second meanings will be true. But certainly not the third, which is in the field of cooking. Or, in general, the fourth, well known to your grandfather or great-grandfather, who was a member of the Great Patriotic War.
Language is both a tool and the result of the work of this tool (this is all about the two main meanings of this word). And the more skilled the master owns it, the more beautiful will be his creations. The global computerization and “Internetization” of the modern world leaves a significant imprint on our communication with you. The layman spends more and more time at the monitor screen, being in the “chat” and substituting such a pseudocommunication for the only possible once-on-face-to-face communication. The on-board replica of the Oweb camera causes only a sad smile. Unfortunately, the situation only worsens over time. And what awaits us in the future?
As usual, young people are at the forefront of all relevant, fashionable and, most importantly, comfortable trends. In the morning before school, in the evening after it, and sometimes during, millions of teenagers communicate on the World Wide Web. And at the same time they do not use the language of Shakespeare, Dahl or, possibly, Confucius. Naturally, the basic language in this area is international English. But will a grandmother, an English teacher, understand her young granddaughter when she heard that he went to stomp the loaves? Hardly. But in fact, everything is very simple. Button – from English it is translated as “button on the keyboard”, which explains the intention of the grandson to sit at the computer. And Klava, he doesn’t call his grandmother’s girlfriend at all, but a computer keyboard.
What a grandmother! When you were a student, your humble servant, very far from modern technology, when he heard the word “click” from an advanced fellow student, called for him whenever there was a difficulty in computer science classes. And all the fault is the English word “click”, which transmits the sound made by the click of a computer manipulator – “mouse”. But modern children are not at all afraid of everything new. They do not chat with friends in the courtyard or with friends on the phone, but sit in ICQ, that is, in ICQ. Every day they check the “soap”, that is, mail (e-mail), send messages to each other, that is messages (messages), and at the end of these same messages add PS, which goes back to the elegant Latin Post Scriptum. Just the Latin letters “P” and “S” are on the same keys as the Russian “Z” and “S”.
Smileys live in a separate fun community in this electronic world (from English smile – smile). All of these brackets, dashes and colons convey a wide range of emotions. And both joy – 🙂 and sadness: 🙁 they have no limits, but depend only on the desire of the user, sorry, user, to express themselves. Specialists in this field even created their own dictionary, which is regularly updated with new hooks and squiggles. But here can they replace a real smile or a blush of embarrassment after a kiss -: – *? Definitely not! So let’s not turn into% – (. People who are tired of sitting at a computer look like that. And we will arrange an appointment with friends. Not F2F , and Face to Face, that is, face to face.
Incidentally, September 19th is an international smiley day! Here’s how: emoticons even have their own holiday! Indeed, global computerization with its own language has become an integral part of the life of modern man.
